There are several areas to park around
the school. Please arrive early to allow ample time for check in and course
orientation.
Here are some tips for a successful
race:
·
Double check
your bike to ensure good working order – air in tires, chain, gears working,
etc. You must wear a bike helmet for the biking portion. You will be parking
your bike at the exit of the pool. Do this before entering the pool area for
the start of the race. Please check with race administrators. The bikes will
end up at the beginning of the foot race entrance.
·
The pool is
heated to around 70 degrees. Parents can view the swimming event from the
viewing area above the pool. To get to it, go through the main entrance behind
the registration table. Enter the High School and go down the hall - the pool is on the right. Kids will need to enter the pool via the
locker rooms 15 minutes before their scheduled start time. To get to the locker
rooms, go to the main entrance of the High school behind the registration
table and go down the stairs to the left. The locker room doors are on the right.
Kids must shower before entering the pool.
·
Most kids wear
their swimming suits for the entire race. Make sure your child’s suit is
comfortable and appropriate for the race. It is a good idea to have a parent
meet their child at the exit of the pool to orient them to their bike. Please
walk behind the bikes so you don’t interfere with forward progress.
·
You are
welcome to run with your child during the foot race. It is a good idea to bring
a bottle of water with you in case they need a drink during the race.
Refreshments and food will be available at the end of the race.
Check List of
things to do on race day:
1.
Check in at the Registration Table for the
race
2.
Park the bike in the proper location
3.
Walk child to the locker room and shower
4.
Parents can either then view the swimming
portion from the viewing area, or greet the child after the swimming event at
the pool exit. Guide your child to their bike, put on helmet, then orient the
child to the bike race entrance.
5.
After the bike portion, greet the child at
the entrance of the foot race. Park bike to the side and remove their helmet.
6.
Most importantly, please cheer everyone on
and have a good time.
Please keep in mind that this event is for the children. With good sportsmanship, everyone wins. Please encourage all the young athletes you see.
